Paper          Presentation

Describe the impact of the Intelligentsia on the development of Russian culture and politics.

интеллигенция (pronounced the same), from the Latin  intelligentia.

Nearly impossible to find anything on this.

The usual 'here is what they are, and here is what they did' won't really work for our project, so we're going to have to be more flexible structure-wise.  The Intelligentsia wasn't a true organization or anything of that sort, but a title given to people who: a) had a specific level of education (which is, in and of itself, determined by their class) and b) believed in certain political ideas.  They are more similar to a loose political party, changing constantly, and should be approached as such.

The word intelligentia itself is worth noting, so I thought we could approach it more like a nonfiction book then a typical paper.

Structure

Intro - normal intro drivel. Cut the intro, I made a nice transition from the word history section.

Word History - an overview of the word; it's current usage and history.

Early Intelligentsia - Pre-1840/50's.  Short (http://www.britannica.com/eb/topic-289820/intelligentsia, and a bit in the book)

Mid Intelligentsia - Main meat of the paper. (Also happens to be the most important stage)  1840/50's to late 19th century (http://www.britannica.com/eb/topic-289820/intelligentsia, http://repositories.cdlib.org/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1103&context=uciaspubs/research, and a bit in the book)

Late Intelligentsia - Also short, the waning intelligentia, ending around 1950. (http://www.ibiblio.org/expo/soviet.exhibit/entrance.html#tour, http://anikov.myweb.uga.edu/intel/, and a bit in the book)

Outro/wrap up

Note: the Early/Mid/Late stages should not be referred too, as I just made them up.  The paper should read straight, without feeling like it is split into specific sections.  (Although there will probably be a large division between the intro and outro, and the rest of the paper.

Important figures should be dispersed throughout, as none of them warrant their own sections, and to keep with the time-theme.
